    Sephora Memorial Day Sale

    sephora memorial day sale 2018

Have you heard Sephora is having a Memorial Day sale and prices are up to 60% off!?

If you are a beauty lover like me you probably know that shopping a Sephora can be so much fun! But, its also not so easy on the wallet. Because they sell high-end products most of the products also come with a high-end price tag. But of course, that usually doesn’t stop any of us from spending that extra penny for the products and brands we love.

So for fun, I decided to round up a “wishlist” of things that I would love to buy from this awesome sale if money were no object. Also, I only picked things I would actually buy, and things I thought were a great deal!

    My Crystal Collection

Before I get into this post I just want to state for the record that I am not a “crystal guru.” I am completely new to crystal collecting. But I was drawn in by crystals so fast I thought I would share mine with you! So here are the few pieces I have picked up so far.

First I’d like to share with you my experience with crystals.

As I said before I’m not an expert on the subject at all. I just happened to see one of my favorite Youtubers talking about her crystal collection. She talked about the energy of each crystal and how people were drawn to certain crystals depending on their energy. It was SO interesting to me. I started googling and searching the internet for information about these crystals and found that there was a metaphysical store in my town.

Not that I was sold as soon as I watched one video, but I was intrigued. So I thought to myself why not go into the store, pick up a few crystals and see how it feels. And I did, and I was pulled in a little further. I picked up a purple Amethyst point and just didn’t want to put it down. As a matter of fact I did set it down for a moment to look at another crystal and went straight back for it. My favorite color is purple, so that may be the only thing drawing me it it. But regardless of the reason, I was drawn to it.

     Dream Amethyst

Like with most things in life I think it’s all about what you want to believe. Once I read about how crystals are formed and how the energy from each crystal works with your body, it made sense to me. I love thinking that the tools our ancient ancestors used to heal and connect with the earth are the same ones I’m holding in my hand. It’s amazing!

    Basically, I was hooked!

While I was picking out my first crystal the owner of the store gave me a small tumbled Lapis Lazuli (along with tons of information.) It’s not everyday you walk into a store and someone gives you something free. So I took that as a good sign and left feeling positive about the whole experience.

    lapis lazuli

Once I had my crystals in my hand I was pretty much hooked. I went straight to eBay and went in search of more! Thats where I found my beautiful Fluorite Wands.

    Fluorite With blue

These two came together and are so pretty it’s unreal!

    Fluorite With purple

I also found my sweet little Topaz and my Citrine sphere on eBay. Some people say that you really need to hold a crystal to know if its meant for you or not but I was drawn to each of theses crystals in different ways.

But once I held each of them I knew I’d made the right decision.

The last three I got where from a different metaphysical store close to my town. They had tons of beautiful crystals but I was only looking for Rose Quarts (and then found two more.)

    Rose Quartz

I also found this amazing “coffee” Moonstone. So pretty I just couldn’t leave without it!

And last is my favorite. This beautiful circle Rhodonite pendant.

And that’s it! My tiny crystal collection. It’s not much, but they are all special in their own way and hold little spot in my heart. I’m excited to see how my collection grows! I’m always on the lookout for my next peice.

Do you collect crystals? If so, what is your favorite? Mine is my Rhodonite!

    The Neutrogena Mask Collection

    the neutrogena mask collection
(Disclaimer) I was provided with a free product for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

Who doesn’t love a good face mask? I’m so excited that Neutrogena sent me a few of their new Hydrogel Masks to try out! They even sent along a single-use clay mask shot! But I hope it goes without saying that I will give only my honest opinion no matter how I got the product.

I want to start by talking about the Deep Clean Purifying Wash-off Clay Mask since I only have one of these.

The first thing I thought was “this container looks like a garlic butter container from Papa John’s (if you don’t know what I’m talking about we can’t be friends.) But don’t let that fool you! I love this single-use packaging idea! While I enjoy having a big container of something that I love, it also makes me feel like I have a time limit to use it once it’s been opened (and you pretty much do.)  But these little containers are great! I took mine into the shower with me and it was just very convenient. The smell is pleasant, not too strong but it does have a scent to it. The texture was smooth and applied to the skin nicely. Once I was ready to wash it off it left my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I was a little red where I’d applied the mask but that isn’t usual for my skin at all and didn’t last very long.

Next, I tried the Deep Clean Purifying 100% Hydrogel Mask.

Deep Clean Purifying 100% Hydrogel Mask

These gel masks are made with seaweed extract to refresh skin and a polymer derived from seaweed to form the translucent gel mask! As soon as I took this out of the package I was intrigued!  It was so slimy and felt like it was just packed full of liquid. The mask comes in two parts, forehead/nose/cheek, and jaw/upper lip/chin. This made it the fit seem perfect, and was super easy to apply. After about 20 minutes I took it off and noticed the pores on both my chin and nose looked better. (Keep in mind I used the clay mask in the shower and then applied the Hydrogel straight out of the shower. So it was like double the power!) Also, I’m sure it says somewhere not to use both masks one after another but I was excited and thought the gel would help hydrate my skin after I used the clay mask. Which I totally think it did!

The last product I got to try was the Radiance Boost Brightening 100% Hydrogel Mask.

Radiance Boost Brightening 100% Hydrogel Mask

This mask smelled so good!! A little sweeter than the purifying mask and I really enjoyed it. Because this mask is a brightening mask I thought it would be nice to use before makeup. So that’s exactly what I did. I’ll be honest, it was a little weird using a mask so early in the day (I usually only use masks after the kids are in bed.) But it was nice. I let it set on my skin for about 20 minutes or so and had a cup of coffee. Then washed it off and used the liquid left in the pouch as a moisturizer. And it was a very nice base for my makeup! I love a nice dewy finish and using the mask this way added a glow to the skin that even a little foundation didn’t cover up.

I’m very happy with all of these products. My favorite was the Radiance boost mask! I loved the way my skin looked so healthy and bright. I always seem to gravitate towards brightening products and this was no exception. This line also has a Hyrdo Boost Hydrating Mask and a Hydro Boost Hydrating Overnight Gel that I will absolutely be picking up the first time I see it at the store. The gel masks were both very hydrating so I can only imagine the level of hydration you could get from a mask made specifically for that (or an overnight gel for that matter.)

Have you ever tried a gel mask before? Did you have as much fun as I did? Let me know in the comments below(:

Nap Time Tips For Kids That Don’t Like Naps

    Nap time tips for kids

The only time I question if my children are actually mine is when it’s nap time. I love sleep so much. Always have, always will. But my children think when they fall asleep I throw a party or something. I wish. Nope. Mom is just setting on the couch drinking coffee wishing I was taking a nap instead of begging you to.

I have a (almost) two-year-old and a four-year-old. When my oldest was getting ready to turned two she stopped taking naps. I’m not exactly sure what it was that made her stop. But no matter how hard I tried there was nothing I could do to get her to nap. I’ll be honest at first it didn’t bother me as much (because she was an only child) It didn’t become a problem until my son was born. That’s when I started getting creative.

Here are a few things that we do that make nap time a little easier.

    Offer a reward

Some people may call this blackmail. But let’s be honest. This “offering something good” for a nap will only work a few times. So I say use it while it works! And this dosesn’t have to be givin them toys or candy. We like to let her stay up a little while after her brother goes to bed if she takes a nap “like a big girl.”

    Wake up earlier

It makes perfect sense. If you wake them up a little earlier then they should fall asleep a little easier at nap time. But BEWARE momma, if they still don’t nap you are basically screwed with a cranky tired non-sleeping chid.

    Lay down together

Another little warning here, because there is a very good chance you are going to fall asleep with them. Which can be either back or good… you decide. But this is usually the only way I can get my daughter to actually sleep. Maybe it’s only because I’m there to stop her from messing around. But with me beside her I at least know there’s a pretty good chance she could fall asleep.

Call it “Quiet time” instead of “Nap time”

I wish I had the energy my no nap taking four year old has! But while she thinks she never needs to take a rest, I think she does. And since I’m the mom well you guessed it I make the rules. So while her little brother is sleeping she takes a little quite time in her room. She can do anything she wants, as long as she does it “quietly.” Like read, color, do a puzzle. And I always remind her that she can lay down if she gets a little sleepy.

I hope that one of my tips might help someone who is struggling with a child that doesn’t like to nap like mine. I wish I had the key to getting her to sleep with ease everyday but these this is the best I have come up with so far.

If you have a tip you’d like to share please leave it in the comments below! I would love to hear it(:

    My Fitbit Charge 2 Review

    Fitbit Charge 2 Review

(Disclosure: This post contains one or more affiliate links. This just means if you choose to click any of the links provided by me and make a purchase I may receive a small commission.)

I got my Fitbit Charge 2 for at Christmas time a few months ago and since I’ve been wearing for a few months I wanted to share my experience and give you a review of the watch. I’m not a watch person per say. I don’t have anything against watches but never wear one. I bought the Fitbit Charge 2 because I wanted something with a heart rate monitor but that wasn’t too big. I have small wrists and I think the larger watches (like the Apple watch for instance) would look too big on me.

I think for the majority of people purchasing a Fitbit have a goal to lose weight. And while it wouldn’t hurt to lose a few points I really just wanted something that could help me be just healthier in general. Since I’m just a visual person I like that I can see an overview of your daily goals on the app.

    Fitbit App on Android

My first impression of the watch was very positive. The moment I got it out of the box and put it on I loved the way it fit. The bands come in a few different sizes and I chose the small purple band. The way the watch connects to the band makes it fit very comfortably and it didn’t take long to get used to wearing.

    Fitbit On wrist

    My Favorite Features

Let’s start with all the good stuff.

As it turns out my favorite thing about the watch is a feature I didn’t even notice when I was looking into getting this. But the Silent Alarm has been an awesome perk I didn’t know I needed in my life.

    Fitbit Alarm feature

. You can use them as a reminder to do something or just to wake you up in the morning. I like to set them according to my block schedule. If you have no idea what I’m talking about I wrote a blog post about block schedules here.

I love that everything syncs up with the app on your phone. And that I can keep track of my food, water, and exercise all in the same place. That really is what I wanted out of my Fitbit. I like to be able to look at the app and see how I’m eating, sleeping and how much exercise I’m getting. It keeps me focused on whats important for my body.

    Fitbit app features

You can change what your screen displays and which features you can use from the watch face by going to the settings on the app. It’s customizable, easy to use and easy to set up.

    What I Didn’t Like

There is one thing. When you turn your wrist to face you it comes on so you can see the time, which IS GREAT. My hands are almost always full and not having to touch the watch to check it is amazing, but…. It does it while I’m sleeping. So I wake up with a bright light in my face a few times a week. Which just means that some nights I sleep without it. But other than that. I’m very pleased.

    My Advice

If you are getting a Fitbit you should just buy a screen protector at the same time. I bought mine about a week after I started wearing it and the very day I put it on I got scratch on the face of the watch. I was so glad it was protected!

    scratched screen fitbit

Here are the screen protectors I got from Amazon.

    IQ Shield

They come with six in a pack (which is great because I have already used three!)

    My Conclusion

Overall, I think the Fitbit charge 2 is great. I love how comfortable it is and how easy it was to get used to wearing. It’s extremely convenient that all the features sync with the app. And that just wearing the watch is a constant reminder to stay active. I’m extremely pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend it if you are thinking about getting one yourself. Now I even find myself missing it when I have to take it off to charge it.

    Makeup Monday Logo

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you will probably recognize most of these products. For Makeup Monday today, I wanted to share my “everyday” makeup with you. Every day is in parentheses because I’m a stay at home mom so there is rarely a whole week when I actually put on makeup every day. But I think there is something to be said about a product that you use every time you do your makeup so here you go!

    The Basics

    The basics concealer, mascara, brows

Otherwise known as the essentials. (Mom’s you know what I’m talking about.) The products that you use when you only have about two minutes to get ready. These are the three things I use to feel “put together.” They are… Concealer, mascara, and brows. I’ve talked about both the Wet n Wild Photofocus concealer and the Covergirl Peacock flare mascara before so I won’t go on about them. I’ll just say they are both great products and I couldn’t recommend them more. My go-to brow pencil is the Wet n wild Instabrow Retractable Brow Pencil. I love the shape of the pencil and the fact that it has a spoolie on the end makes all the difference!

    Full Everyday Makeup

    everyday makeup collection

When I do find a little extra time by myself to apply makeup I’ll add a few extra steps, but still keeping everything pretty natural. First is my foundation. I don’t always use foundation because I feel like most of the time concealer does well enough on its own. But if I do I always go back to the Original Bareminerals foundation. I love the finish of this foundation so much. I also use a little bronzer out of the Elf contouring and bronzing kit for my contour. I’ve hit pan on both the blush and bronzer in this set and will be repurchasing it soon. I also have the E.L.F. baked highlighter which is amazing and adds a little extra glow.

    The Brushes

There are only two brushes that I use in my everyday makeup. I use the Sephora #45 Mineral Powder Brush for foundation and contouring (yes both.) And my Sephora #205 Crease & Shadow Brush for my eyeshadow and highlighter. I have a few other favorite brushes but I tend to stick with just these two on a regular basis (less to clean ya know?!.)

What about you? What products are your go-to everyday makeup picks?? Leave a comment and let me know below!

    Acne Proofing Review

Product Photo Acne Proofing Gel cleanser and daily scrub
(Disclaimer) I was provided with a free product for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

I’m excited to be working with Neutrogena this week to share my experience with the new Acne Proofing product line. If you’ve been following me for a while, you will know Neutrogena is one of my favorite brands. Between the skin care products and the beauty products, I honestly think you can’t go wrong with them. So when I got the opportunity to try a few new products I jumped at the chance!

Product Photo Acne Proofing Gel cleanser and daily scrub

First, I want to tell you a little about my skin. I think that is always the most important factor when choosing skin care. I have combination skin which is drier in the winter and oilier in the summer. I’ve always used some type of acne cleanser because I am prone to breakouts (especially once a month.) But I’ve never bought a prescription for ance because I never thought it was bad enough. Just a few breakouts here or there that can sometimes make wearing makeup a little frustrating.

    My Review

The products I tried are the Ance Proofing Gel Cleanser and The Ance Proofing Daily Scrub. Both products have a similar smell which was pleasant and reminded me of a shampoo (not a specific shampoo, just what you would like a shampoo would smell like.) Because I was using the two products in combination with each other I cannot tell you if one worked better than the other, just what the combination did for my skin.

    Using Acne proofing gel cleanser

I’ve been using both products every day now for over a week and I must say that I’m pleasantly surprised with how my skin looks. Within the first few days, I could already tell my skin was clearing up. I was a little worried that by using both products my skin would get irritated or dry out but I’ve been using both daily and I haven’t noticed any irritation at all.

    Using Acne proofing gel cleanser

As you can tell from the name of the products, both are designed to not only clear up breakouts but also helps to preserve skin’s natural defenses so it can be more acne resistant. I can’t remember if I’ve ever seen this claim before and I love the idea of protecting yourself from breakouts before they even happen. I have no way of knowing if these products are making my skin “acne proof.” But I will say I have noticed fewer breakouts since I started using them together and I will continue using it.

    In conclusion:

I really like both the products. The Acne Proofing Gel Cleanser is very gentle and smells nice. I like to use it after in the morning before my makeup (or just to start the day.) And in the evening to take off my makeup. It always leaves my skin soft and clean without feeling too tight.

For the Acne Proof Daily Scrub I don’t always wash my whole face with the scrub especially if I didn’t wear makeup I just like to concentrate on my problem areas( like chin and nose/t-zone.) I like using it after my cleanser for that extra protection. It’s been easy to add both to my daily routine and can’t wait to see how my skin looks a month from now! I feel like a superhero, and my super power is having acne proof skin!
