I wish I could say that I read a new book every month but let’s be honest… I’m a stay-at-home mom, I have very little time to read an entire book. But reading for me has always been a way to get out of my own head for a few hours. So I do try to make a little time if something catches my interest.
I have been on a roll when it comes to books this year, it seems like every time I pick one up I have completely enjoyed it. So if you are in search of a good book for vacation (or just dreaming about vacation) these books are sure to take you to whole new world.
When I was young and really started getting into reading, it seemed that I would always gravitate towards romance novels and love stories, but as I got older I have found that I really enjoy mystery novels and also enjoy some suspense. So the selection of books I’m going to talk about here is a combination of all three.
First up is The Memory Box by Eva Lesko Natiello.
This book made it to both the New York Times and the USA Today bestseller list and for good reason! I wish I could unread this book and read it again. It was that good. The book was about a woman that found a box in her closet that was taped up and she had no idea what was inside so, of course, she opened it and it changed everything. There isn’t much I can say without giving everything away, but I will say that this book is in my Top 10 books of all time. Because I read so many books I feel like a lot of the time I can guess what’s going to happen next but that definitely was not the case with this book. The ending was AMAZING.
Next is a book called A Dark Lure by Loreth Anne White.
It is a story about a woman that was abducted 12 years before the story took place by a man who caused her harm. So as you can imagine she has trust issues and PTSD and changed her name and moved in hopes she could start over somewhere new. I wish I could give a more detailed review of the book but I’m afraid to give anything else away so I will just say that it was so good I made my mom read it as soon as I was done!
The last book is a lot less serious than the other two, it had a comic undertone -it even states its a humorous romantic mystery on the cover of the book, which was nice. The book is called Our Husband by Stephanie Bond.
This is a story about three women from different backgrounds who find out that they are all married to the same man. When he is killed they (all three of the wives, working together) try to find the person that did it. It’s crazy and funny and of course a little sad and I promise if you take the time to read it you will love it. Also, I think because I’m married I liked it a little more than someone who might not be married (or in a committed relationship,) because I was able to put yourself in these women’s shoes and feel what they’re feeling.
So those are the three books I suggest that you read if you’re looking for something good to read this summer, or anytime really. I’m always on the look for the next good read, what are some of your favorites? Leave them in the comments below!
Thanks for reading!
