Monthly Favorites: September

Yes, it is that time again! The end of the month, and a review of the things that I’ve been loving throughout the month. My main focus throughout the month of September has been my skin. (This may be TMI but I changed my birth control it has made my skin unbearable.) I have no actual proof that it’s the birth controls fault but I don’t know what else it could be- hence the skin care products.

My faves this month:

Neutrogens oil free acne wash cream cleanser

First up is the Neutrogena oil-free acne wash pink grapefruit cream cleanser. This cream cleanser has salicylic acid acne medicine that is made to clear your breakouts. After about 3 weeks of using it, I have noticed that the breakouts around my cheeks and my chin have greatly subsided. The grapefruit smell was very strong but I enjoy it and would highly recommend if you are in the market for a new cleanser. I also wanted to mention it was a little different from the cleansers I’m used to because it is a cream cleanser. It’s very rich and creamy and I absolutely love it. It leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized (not dry or tight.)

Sephora Green clay mask

Next up is a face mask. Yes, again with the skin care. This is the Green Clay Mask from Sephora. This mask claims to be purifying and pore minimizing. I have to say I was very surprised at how much I liked this mask. If I’m being honest I only picked it up because it was the last one on the shelf. Since it was only $8 I picked it up and I’m very happy I did. It has an interesting smell, I don’t want to say it’s a bad smell because it definitely isn’t. I just can’t place my finger on what the smell reminds me of. I know that doesn’t help you any but I will say it isn’t strong or overpowering. If you’re someone like me that doesn’t like strong scents this shouldn’t bother you. I did notice my pores looking smaller and my skin looking a little better after each use. Also, the package claims you get for uses out of it but I have used it about 6 times before it was gone.

Rimmel London 25 hour foundation

The next product is a foundation. Usually, I use powder foundations and really love them but since I have been having problems with my skin I decided to try something else. I was intrigued to find this Rimmel London lasting finish 25-hour skin perfecting full coverage foundation with Comfort serum.  It also has SPF 20 and I got the shade light ivory. The product claims that it is sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof up to 25 hours which is a big claim for something that I paid less than $10 for! But I have to say I really like this foundation, it doesn’t claim to be Dewey but I find that (on my skin) it does have a little shine. It doesn’t bother me because I like dewy foundations but you could just add a little powder over top and to take care of the shine. As I said this Foundation was less than $10 so if you are in the market for a new one I would definitely recommend you giving this one a try! Also, it does last a pretty long time, but I find it getting cakey around my nose after 4 or so hours.

2 wet n wild nail polishes

Next, I have these two beautiful nail polishes by Wet and Wild. I’m grouping them together because they are the same brand (which was completely unintentional.) The first color is called black cream. I found this at the Dollar Tree so I paid just $1 for it and I love it. I mean who doesn’t love a good black nail polish? The other one is called wet cement and it is a grayish color with a slight lavender undertone. Depending on the light it can look purplish, grayish and even a little brownish. No matter what it looks beautiful and I have been wearing both colors over and over all month long.

zenni optical glasses

The last thing I want to talk about is my new glasses. I debated on whether or not I should put these in here because I only got them last week but I am so in love with them that I couldn’t not put them in my favorites. I ordered these glasses from after seeing a commercial about the company. I couldn’t believe it when I got on the site and found these ones that looked almost identical to a pair that I had tried on at my doctor’s office. The price tag difference between them was over $150. I am so glad I gave them a try, I could not recommend the company more. I can see why some people might be a little hesitant since they don’t actually get to try the glasses on, but they do have a feature on their website that lets you upload a picture of yourself and try the frames on virtually which is pretty awesome (and very accurate.)

I hope everybody had a good September! Our family had a lot going on this month but it was a good one and I am now looking forward to October! What have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I really like those nail polish colors! | I love Sephora products, I have a few. I may have to give the clay mask a try. | Facial wipes may be a lot less harsh on my skin than soap. I have thought about buying them, but forget to put them on my shopping list.
